MCP memory server

One place for the notes, plans, lists, and files you build with AI — every connected app can use them.

XOR (System of Reason) is a remote MCP memory server. Connect it once in each AI app you use. They all see the same things. Nothing to copy. Nothing to paste.

What an MCP memory server is

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets an AI app call tools on a remote server. A memory server is that remote place where your thinking lives — stores, files, lists, schedules — so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other connected apps share one source instead of trapping context inside a single chat product.

XOR is one remote MCP server. Every AI app that connects to it sees the same tools and the same things. Your own code and agents reach the same tools through a web API with an access key.

  • MCP: https://systemofreason.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP
  • Sign-in: OAuth with dynamic client registration (email + code)
  • Without a browser: access key as Authorization: Bearer xor_…
  • Web API: POST https://systemofreason.com/v1/… with an access key

Why memory stuck in one AI app does not travel

Every chat leaves thinking behind: plans, research, decisions, lists. Today that usually stays in the app where you made it. Switching means digging out markdown, pasting into the next chat, and explaining it again.

Vendor memory features help inside one product. They do not hand the same notebook to Claude and ChatGPT and your coding agent. An MCP memory server is the shared layer between them.

What XOR stores and exposes

Things live in projects (default unless a call names another). Each thing has a purpose line so the next agent knows how to use it.

  • Stores (kv) — key-value, with optional expiry
  • Databases (sql) — SQLite
  • File spaces (files) — files, with every version kept 7 days, plus links for big uploads and downloads
  • Secrets — sealed at rest; filled into outgoing requests on XOR’s side; never shown again
  • Schedules — a web request or an agent run, on a cron or once
  • Inboxes — webhook addresses that keep what is sent, with optional signature checks
  • Background agents — jobs with per-run and monthly budgets

Every project starts with a store, a database, and a file space named default. Safety built in: seven-day undo on everything; outside content marked as untrusted data (never instructions); secrets never reach the model; spending caps per account, key, and agent.

Who it is for

  • People who work across more than one AI app and want one place for their thinking
  • Coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and similar) that need shared tools and storage
  • Custom apps that speak MCP or the HTTP API

XOR is invite-only today. Invites go out every week. Pricing on the site: start free ($1 free credit each month), then prepaid metered credit — no plans or seats. Details: Pricing.

How to start

  1. Join the waitlist on the XOR home page.
  2. When you have access, connect your apps — start with Connect your apps.
  3. Per-app guides stay as how-tos: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the rest under Docs.

This category page explains what an MCP memory server is. The docs pages remain the connect steps.

FAQ

Is XOR an MCP memory server?

Yes. XOR is a single remote MCP server at https://systemofreason.com/mcp. Connected AI apps share the same tools and the same stored things.

Does it replace ChatGPT or Claude memory?

No. Those stay inside each vendor. XOR is the shared layer across apps so you are not stuck copying context between them.

Can coding agents use it?

Yes. Connect agents that speak MCP, or call the same tools over the web API with an access key. See For AI agents and How XOR works.

Is it open to everyone right now?

Not yet. XOR is invite-only; invites go out every week. Join the waitlist on the home page, then follow Connect your apps when you are in.
